Adult Assessment
Adult Anthropometry
Clinical Condition & Requirement Factors
How to Use This Tool▼
- Enter Anthropometry: Start by filling in the patient's gender, age, and height. Use the estimation options like Knee Height if direct measurements are not available.
- Select Weight Type: Choose the appropriate method for determining the patient's weight. The tool will show the required fields for each selection (e.g., MUAC, Pre-amputation weight).
- Calculate Anthropometry: Click the "Calculate Anthropometry" button to see the results for height, weight, and BMI. This calculated weight will be used for the next steps.
- Select a Clinical Condition: Choose a condition from the dropdown. This will preset the most common energy and protein factors for that condition.
- Adjust Factors (If Needed): You can modify the pre-filled energy and protein factors based on your clinical judgment. For the "BMR Formula Method", you can also select the specific equation to use.
- Calculate Requirements: Click the "Calculate Requirements" button to see the final energy and protein goals.
About The Formulas Used▼
[1] Ideal Body Weight (Devine Formula)
Men: 50 kg + 0.91 × (Height in cm − 152.4)
Women: 45.5 kg + 0.91 × (Height in cm − 152.4)
[2] Adjusted Body Weight
Adjusted Body Weight = IBW + (0.25 x (Actual Weight - IBW))
[3] Estimated Post-Amputation Body Weight
Estimated Weight = Pre-amputation Weight × (1 − Sum of % Amputation)
[4] Estimated Weight (MUAC)
Men: 10 + (MUAC in cm × 2.5)
Women: 8 + (MUAC in cm × 2.3)
[5] Height Estimation (Knee Height)
Men (Age > 60): 84.88 + (1.83 × Knee Height) − (0.24 × Age)
Women (Age > 60): 64.19 + (1.91 × Knee Height) − (0.21 × Age)
Men (Age ≤ 60): 85.10 + (1.73 × Knee Height)
Women (Age ≤ 60): 75.72 + (1.57 × Knee Height)
[6] Mifflin-St Jeor Equation
Men: REE = (10 × weight) + (6.25 × height) – (5 × age) + 5
Women: REE = (10 × weight) + (6.25 × height) – (5 × age) – 161
[7] Harris-Benedict Equation
Men: REE = 66.5 + (13.75 × weight) + (5.003 × height) − (6.755 × age)
Women: REE = 655.1 + (9.563 × weight) + (1.85 × height) − (4.676 × age)
